Power transmission

As a leader in energy delivery, Enbridge entered the power transmission business to facilitate the import and export of power, allowing markets to have efficient and economic access to existing and new-generation sources.

Alongside our investment in renewable and alternative energy, Enbridge's entry into the transmission market is another example of our energy diversification strategy, enabling the development of new, renewable, zero-emission projects and setting the stage for a greener energy future.

The East-West Tie (EWT) Transmission Project in northern Ontario, which entered service in March 2022, consists of an approximately 280-mile (450-km), double-circuit, 230-kilovolt (kV) transmission line with transmission capacity of 450 megawatts (MW). The project was built by NextBridge Infrastructure, a partnership between affiliates of Enbridge, NextEra Energy Canada and OMERS Infrastructure.
