Enbridge starts construction on the 815-megawatt Sequoia Solar Project with power purchased by AT&T and Toyota
Wind energy
Enbridge is a significant investor in renewable energy. Since 2002, we have invested in wind energy projects in five different countries, totaling 4,870 MW (gross)—or 2,117 MW (net)—of wind-power capacity globally, based on projects either in operation or under construction.
Onshore wind
Enbridge was an early investor in wind energy in Canada and since our first wind farm in 2002, our portfolio has grown across North America.
We now have an interest in 16 onshore wind farms with the capacity to generate more than 2,400 megawatts (MW) gross of renewable energy in North America.
Offshore wind
Our first offshore wind project, Rampion, in southern England in late 2022 was quickly followed by the Hohe See and Albatros Offshore Wind Projects in the German North Sea.
In France, our offshore portfolio continues to grow. Saint Nazaire, France’s first commercial-scale offshore wind farm, went into operation in late 2022 and Fécamp in May 2024. Enbridge has two projects in construction: Calvados (Courseulles-sur-Mer) and Provence Grand Large, one of the world’s first floating offshore wind projects.
On the horizon are three development projects: Rampion Extension (England), Dunkirk (France) and Normandy (France), which will be France’s largest offshore wind project with 1 GW capacity.
