Enbridge has 23 wind farms in operation or under construction, with a total net generation capacity of 2,117 megawatts.
Enbridge acquires Tri Global Energy wind and solar projects
In September 2022, Enbridge announced the acquisition of Tri Global Energy—the third-largest onshore wind developer in the U.S., with a development portfolio of wind and solar projects representing more than 7 gigawatts (GW) of renewable generation capacity.
“TGE will enhance Enbridge’s renewable platform and accelerate our North American growth strategy,” said Al Monaco, Enbridge’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “TGE’s significant development pipeline, coupled with our renewable capabilities, and existing self-power opportunities, make this a truly synergistic investment.”
Founded in 2009, Tri Global Energy has been the largest developer of wind energy projects currently under construction in Texas, the nation’s leader in wind capacity. The company is also one of the top 10 developers of overall renewable energy (wind, solar, battery storage) in the U.S.
Enbridge's solar investments have 1,355 MW of emission-free power capacity, based on net generation figures.
With a focus on the communities that host, co-sponsor and benefit from its projects, Tri Global Energy has initiated renewable energy projects located on approximately one million acres of land with thousands of participating landowners and community investors.
TGE’s large developmental portfolio includes 3.9 GW of projects in execution on behalf of operating sponsors—while an additional 3 GW of wholly owned projects are currently in late-stage development.
For more than a decade, Tri Global Energy has developed and owned utility-scale wind, solar and energy storage projects in Texas, Nebraska, Illinois, Indiana, Virginia, Pennsylvania and Wyoming.
