Government of Canada Indigenous loan program announcement

We are pleased to see this item in the federal budget. A robust loan guarantee program that gives Indigenous groups the right to choose which projects and sectors of the economy to participate in will advance Canada’s energy future and Indigenous economic reconciliation.As a company that has worked with dozens of Indigenous communities to establish equity partnerships, we greatly appreciate the value this presents to many more communities across Canada. To date, Enbridge has existing or announced partnerships with 35 Indigenous communities in Canada with more to be announced in the next year. Indigenous investment in these partnerships, from the Athabasca Indigenous Investments’ transaction alone, totals more than $1.5 billion. Most importantly, returns from these investments flow annually to our Indigenous partners, supporting funding priorities and helping to enhance quality of life in their communities.
