More than 400 consumers feeling the price-at-the-pump pinch recently had a little helpwith fuel for their vehicles and stomachs.

Teaming with the Forward Corporation’s Vassar Shell Station on W. Huron Ave., in Vassar, MI, Enbridge hosted another gas giveaway, something it has been doing for more than six years.

During a two-hour window May 24, Enbridge employees provided $25 gas cards to 425 people and pumped gas for another 31. Enbridge also offered guests a sandwich and bottle of water from the on-site Subway shop.

Broadcasting live from the site, 98 KCQ radio host Jason Addams announced the gas giveaway that morning.  Participants either could redeem the card that day or save it for another day.

“These gas giveaways address a very practical need while providing a chance for our communities to connect with Enbridge employees on a different level,” said Candice Braddock, senior community engagement advisor who helped lead the effort.

“These are our communities. We live here, we work here, and it helps the community to see directly Enbridge’s role in keeping the energy, gasoline and other fuels flowing that help each of us go about our daily lives.”

The energy company says it plans to hold additional gas giveaways throughout the year.

Every little bit helps. According to AAA, Michigan drivers paid an average of $1.59 more for a gallon of regular gas than they did last May.

“In addition to Anna Langstaff at Forward Corporation and their Shell Station in Vassar, Enbridge extends appreciation to Subway, Jason Addams of 98 KCQ Country and Enbridge’s employees for making the event a success,” said Braddock.
