Heidelberg Materials: Aiming higher

Edmonton, AB-based Heidelberg Materials is building North America’s first carbon-neutral cement plant. By using Enbridge’s nearby Open Access Wabamun Carbon Hub, currently under development, the carbon dioxide (CO₂) produced during the cement-making process will be safely and permanently stored underground—helping to create a net-zero outcome for Heidelberg’s production of concrete, the second-most consumed substance in the world after water.
