‘It’s OK to search your heart and change your mind’
Robert lives on the White Earth Reservation in northwestern Minnesota, and is a Tribal band member. Formerly an opponent of Enbridge’s Line 3 Replacement Project, Robert researched the issues and came to appreciate the project as a safety-driven initiative protecting the land. He then joined Enbridge’s Tribal liaison team. “No matter who you are, I respect you. If you disagree, I still respect you,” he says. For those who oppose Enbridge projects, “it’s OK sometimes to feel anger . . . but it’s also OK to search your heart and change your mind,” says Robert. “I’m not alone in this, as far as being a Tribal liaison. There are others. And they’re there to help you.”
