‘Doig River does trust Enbridge. It’s earned’
In September 2024, Enbridge employees, Doig River First Nation community members, and members of local government gathered on DRFN land northeast of Fort St. John, BC for a special ceremony. A proposed compressor station on our Aspen Point Project will be named Wǫchiigii, which means Peace River in the Dane-zaa Beaver language. The naming ceremony is part of our continuing work in building stronger relationships with Indigenous groups across British Columbia based on honesty, trust and mutual respect. “There’s been a lot of good relationship building over the years. You’re invested in the community. People see that. They trust you,” says DRFN Chief Trevor Makadahay. “At the end of the day, relationships are about trust—and Doig River does trust Enbridge. It’s earned.”
