Working toward wellness, sharing success
Enbridge named to Canada’s Top 100 Employers for 14th time
If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing well.
That’s the spirit behind Enbridge’s new Wellness Program—a newly established, Canada-wide initiative for Enbridge employees that takes a holistic attitude to health.
Launched in May 2015, the Wellness Program provides our employees in Canada and their benefit-enrolled spouses the tools, resources and opportunities to help them maintain and improve their physical, mental and financial well-being.
“Wellness comes in many forms. The Wellness Program at Enbridge inspires and supports the pursuit of physical, mental and financial health in a variety of ways—online workshops, biometric screenings, exercise, nutrition, walking and weight-loss challenges,” says Jane Haberbusch, Enbridge’s vice president, human resources.
“The Wellness Program represents a balanced approach to well-being,” she adds. “It identifies participants’ prevalent risks and readiness to change, and it also rewards positive health outcomes with financial incentives.”
Enbridge’s vision is to be the leading energy delivery company in North America. The driving force of that vision is the talent, initiative, and dedication of our workforce. We believe in rewarding our employees accordingly, with new incentives like the Wellness Program—and today, for the 14th time, Enbridge was named among the distinguished list of Canada’s Top 100 Employers.
This annual competition, established in 2000, hails employers that lead their respective industries in offering exceptional workplaces—evaluating companies on factors such as:
- the physical workplace;
- work atmosphere;
- training and skills development;
- health, financial and family benefits;
- vacation and time off; and
- community involvement.
Canada’s Top 100 Employers for 2016 were unveiled today with a special supplement in the Globe and Mail. This year's Top 100 employers are responsible for nearly 750,000 full-time employees in Canada. "The Top 100 companies are influencing Canadians every day, and our goal is to document these leaders in the hope that they will inspire change for others," says Richard Yerema, managing editor at Mediacorp Canada, which compiles the annual nationwide index.
The Canada’s Top 100 Employers team offered these reasons for including Enbridge in this year’s list:
- Our share purchase plan that encourages employees to take home a little more than their paycheque;
- Our emphasis on professional development, with an in-house educational initative that includes training opportunities in areas such as business and financial acumen, project management, personal and interpersonal excellence, leadership development, and energy-related studies;
- The Enbridge-supported energy4everyone Foundation, which works to improve access to affordable, sustainable and reliable energy in the developing world, and offers employee volunteer assignments involving the installation of residential solar power systems.
Enbridge helps fuel people’s quality of life through energy, with operations in the area of transportation, distribution, and generation. In 2014, we continued to grow to more than 8,000 permanent and temporary employees and provisioned contractors across Canada.
“Our purpose at Enbridge is to fuel people’s quality of life. We do that best by attracting and retaining the right people—and sharing our successes with those people,” says Haberbusch.
