After it’s upgraded into pipeline-grade methane, Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) is easily blended into existing natural gas distribution and transmission networks—where it can be used to fuel transit fleets, power industry, and heat homes and businesses without the need for any alterations, since it’s an identical fuel.
Enbridge has committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from our operations by 2050. We’re working with industry partners and leveraging our vast network of gas pipelines to help pioneer RNG as an effective solution for society’s net-zero ambitions. Enbridge’s gas utility, Enbridge Gas, is actively involved in seven Canadian RNG projects operating or under construction, with an additional 50+ projects in various stages of development. In the U.S., we’ve collaborated with Divert Inc. to develop facilities that turn wasted food into RNG. Scroll to learn more about our work in the RNG space.
