Enbridge joins communities, other businesses in supporting U.P. State Fair

Strolling pianos, cornhole tournaments, music, fireworks—few events showcase the meaning of “pure Michigan” better than the annual Upper Peninsula State Fair.
Michiganders and thousands of others across the U.S. flocked to the 95th U.P. State Fair held from Aug. 14 to 20. From the bingo tent to a robotics play to a variety of carnival rides and games, guests had no shortage of activities and events from which to choose and informational booths to visit.
“Growing up in Michigan, I looked forward to the food, fun and excitement of the U.P. State Fair and the dozens of county fairs throughout Michigan,” said Paul Meneghini, Enbridge manager of community engagement, native Michigander and resident.
“As an adult, I still look forward to them personally and professionally.”
Meneghini shared that Enbridge again served as a Champion Sponsor of the U.P. State Fair, as well as a sponsor for several county fairs, including Calhoun, Cheboygan, Emmet-Charlevoix, Gogebic, and Iron, and the upcoming Dickinson County Fair in September.
“We enjoy supporting the fairs and the traditions embedded in our Michigan communities,” Meneghini said.
Supporting Michigan youth
One of the biggest traditions is the 4-H Livestock Auction.
This year, Enbridge purchased multiple animals in the market sale.
“The dedication and hard work that these young people and their families put in to raise and care for their animals is praiseworthy,” said Kate Houchard, Enbridge’s operations manager for the Great Lakes Region. “We are happy to be able to purchase their animals, contributing to college savings funds and investing next year’s market projects while also addressing food insecurities in our communities.”
