‘I couldn’t have chosen a better career’

Rod, a heavy equipment operator with Teamsters Local 346, has worked on Enbridge projects for 47 years and will retire in 2021. “I couldn’t have chosen a better career. You meet so many good people—people like you and I, trying to make a living,” says the White Earth Band member. “When the alarm was set for 4:30, 5 o’clock in the morning, I was up a half-hour before the alarm. That means you’re excited to go to work.”
