Enbridge’s Canadian Legal Mentorship Program
We’re excited to open the application process to participate in Enbridge’s Legal Mentorship Program. At Enbridge, we understand the need and benefits of a more diverse legal workforce. Pursuing a law degree can be challenging for anyone, and there are additional barriers for people in marginalized communities. We want to do our part to support the next generation of lawyers in our communities, with the ultimate vision of having a more equitable and diverse legal profession.
Our vision
To provide a casual and welcoming atmosphere where a group of first-year law students are encouraged to engage with Enbridge lawyers on topics that would support them in becoming successful lawyers.
Enbridge lawyers are encouraged to share personal stories of their legal journey and provide guidance to these students as they would to their friends or family members.
Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for 30 first-year law students (or 1L) who are registered in Ontario or Alberta law schools and identify as Black1 or Indigenous Peoples2.
1 Those who self-identify as Black.
2 Those who self-identify as Indigenous Peoples of Canada, including First Nation (status or non-status), Inuit, and Métis peoples.
What’s in it for you
Enbridge has a large Legal Services team of legal professionals and lawyers who are eager and willing to support their peers. More specifically, Enbridge does work in 15 practice areas, operates in jurisdictions across Canada and the U.S., and works with many leading external law firms.
Our goal is for you to be well supported by offering group mentorship along with individual mentorship. This program is a great opportunity to network with not only practicing lawyers but to connect you with students from other law schools.
Structure and commitment
We know that the first year of law school can be demanding, which is why this program is a minimal time commitment and the application process is very simple.
The program will take place over one school year and include group mentorship sessions, each with featured topics, ending in a networking event. One-on-one mentorship with an Enbridge lawyer is available for those interested.
Registration
Registration is open for the 2024-25 program until Oct. 18, 2024.
Selection process
Depending on the number of applicants and schools represented, Enbridge may hold a draw to select applicants to attend the mentorship program. Applicants will be notified by email of their application status. Note that access to the mentorship program is offered free of charge.
